01
Scope and accountability
This Privacy Policy applies to the Bin and Gone website, estimate inquiries, calls, texts, emails and service records. Bin and Gone is responsible for personal information under its control. The designated Privacy Lead can be reached using the phone number below for privacy questions, access requests and complaints. A mailing address for a written privacy request can be obtained by calling the team.
The website is intended for customers seeking junk removal, cleanouts, related project reviews or a mini-bin inquiry in the current service area. This policy does not control a service that a customer independently chooses, such as the customer’s mobile carrier, messaging application, email provider, municipal website or another external destination.
02
Information we handle
Depending on how you contact us and whether a service is arranged, we may handle:
- your name, phone number and optional email address;
- the job city, postal code, service address or other location details needed to review availability and access;
- the requested service, item or material category, preferred timing, placement information and notes;
- photos or videos you choose to send, including visible people, property, belongings or image metadata;
- calls, texts, emails, estimates, booking details, service instructions, invoices, payment records and issue-resolution records; and
- ordinary technical request information processed by website hosting and security providers, such as an IP address, browser or device type, requested page, date, time and security logs.
Please do not send government identification, financial account credentials, medical information or other sensitive information that is not necessary for the estimate or service.
03
How the estimate tool works
At the effective date of this policy, the website estimate tools do not submit your form entries to a Bin and Gone website server or database. The entries remain in the current browser session while the website prepares text for a message. Your details are provided to Bin and Gone only if you choose to send the text, call, email or otherwise transmit the information.
If you use the copy button, the prepared request is placed on your device clipboard. If you open a text message, your device, messaging application and mobile carrier process the message under their own terms and privacy practices. Closing or refreshing the page clears the current in-memory form state, although a clipboard or an unsent message draft may remain on your device.
If Bin and Gone later adds direct website submission, analytics, advertising tools, online payment or customer accounts, this policy and the notice shown at the collection point must be updated before those tools are used. Consent for a materially new purpose will be requested where applicable law requires it.
04
How information is used
We use personal information only for reasonable purposes connected with the customer relationship, including to:
- respond to an inquiry and communicate about the requested project;
- review service-area availability, materials, quantity, access, timing, safety and project suitability;
- prepare or revise an estimate and confirm a booking;
- deliver, document and support an agreed service;
- process and record payments, receipts and business records where a service is completed;
- protect customers, workers, property and the business from safety, fraud, misuse or legal risk; and
- maintain and improve the website and customer process using non-identifying or aggregated observations where practical.
We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not currently operate an automated marketing newsletter or text list. If optional marketing is introduced, Bin and Gone will request the consent required by applicable law and provide a way to unsubscribe.
07
Retention and safeguards
Unsent form entries are not retained by the Bin and Gone website. Information received through texts, calls, emails or completed services is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the inquiry, estimate, booking, customer support, safety, tax, accounting, insurance, dispute or other legal purpose. When information is no longer required, it is deleted, destroyed or anonymized using a method appropriate to its sensitivity and format.
Bin and Gone is responsible for using administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. This includes limiting access to people who need the information for an authorized purpose and protecting the devices and accounts used to receive customer communications. No website, device, email or messaging method can be guaranteed completely secure, so customers should send only what is needed.
If a safeguards breach creates a real risk of significant harm, Bin and Gone will make the records, reports and notifications required by applicable privacy law.
08
Your choices and privacy rights
You may choose not to send an online estimate request and contact Bin and Gone by phone instead. Subject to applicable law and reasonable identity verification, you may ask whether we hold personal information about you, request access, ask how it was used or disclosed, request a correction, withdraw consent for an optional use, or raise a concern about how information was handled. Bin and Gone will respond within the time required by applicable law. Under PIPEDA, the normal response period is 30 days, subject to a permitted extension and notice.
Withdrawal of consent does not affect handling already permitted by law and may limit our ability to provide a requested estimate or service. We may need to retain certain records despite a deletion request when required for legal, accounting, safety or dispute purposes.
09
Project photos and marketing
Photos sent for an estimate may be used to assess, communicate about, perform and document the requested project. Sending a quote photo does not give Bin and Gone permission to publish it in advertising, social media, a portfolio or a before-and-after case study.
Promotional use requires separate permission from the person authorized to grant it. Customers should avoid including people, licence plates, documents, family photographs or other unnecessary personal details in project images. If another person or property is visible, make sure you are authorized to share the image.
10
Children’s information
The website and services are intended for adults who can authorize work at a property. Bin and Gone does not knowingly request personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information should contact us so the matter can be reviewed.
11
Changes, questions and complaints
This policy may be updated when the website, business practices, service providers or legal requirements change. The updated date will appear at the top, and material changes will apply prospectively unless the law permits otherwise.
For a privacy question, access request, correction request or complaint, call 289-356-0228. Please do not send sensitive identity documents until Bin and Gone explains what is reasonably needed to verify the request.
If we cannot resolve a privacy concern, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada for information about available complaint processes.
